My Deep Play group read The Game Believes In You: How digital Play Can Make Our Kids Smarter by Greg Toppo. Tasia took the lead in creating a professional development outline (see the slides below). During our work day at Michigan State University, the group gave input (even our robot Chris) and the finished professional development product is one that can be adapted by any teacher interested in sparking the imagination of teachers in using games in the classroom. The group then gave input on the creation of our newsletter. I took the lead with the newsletter, using www.smore.com to assist in the creation and organization of resources. Each member had a section to complete. I think the newsletter would be excellent starting point for any teacher looking at gamification in the classroom and the PD could be a follow up that teachers could use to dig deeper and receive added assistance with some specific options for them and their students.
