"The aim of teaching
is not only to transmit information,
but also to
transform students
from passive recipients of other people's knowledge
into
active constructors
of their own and others' knowledge."
Education for judgment: The artistry of discussion leadership.
Edited by C. Roland Christensen, David A. Garvin, and Ann Sweet. Cambridge, MA: Harvard Business School, 1991.

If math is the language of nature,
why aren't my students naturally communicating their understanding of math?
I will create a math department professional learning community that focuses on STEM lessons that will engage students.  In addition to STEM lessons and discussions based on student work to inform teaching, the department will seek connections to our career academy classes.  This will provide students the opportunity to transform their understanding from instrumental to relational.  The math department PLC will be a model for other departments who will be able to use resources on my website to create their own PLC
